About

Takhlakh Lake Campground occupies a prime location in the Cowlitz Valley Ranger District of Gifford Pinchot National Forest, sitting at 4,400 feet elevation on the shore of Takhlakh Lake. The campground is renowned for its postcard views of Mt. Adams towering above the lake, with Mt. Rainier and Mt. St. Helens also visible from various vantage points. The setting is well-shaded and attracts hikers exploring the northern trails of the Mt. Adams Wilderness. The campground offers 54 back-in sites with unpaved parking spurs ranging from 15 to 40 feet, plus 10 walk-in tent sites closer to the water. Sites include picnic tables and vault toilets are available. There is no potable water, so campers must bring adequate drinking water. The maximum vehicle length is 22 feet, making this unsuitable for larger RVs. Campfires are not permitted. The 1.1-mile Takhlakh Loop Trail starts from the campground and circles the lake on flat terrain accessible to all skill levels. The Takh Takh Meadows Trail connects to an old lava flow with excellent views. The lake supports non-motorized boating and fishing for rainbow trout. Mosquitoes can be numerous in early season.
