About
Moosehead Lake Campground sits in a quiet, heavily forested section of the Ottawa National Forest in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, approximately 10 miles southeast of Marenisco. The campground consists of a single loop with 8 well-spaced drive-in sites that accommodate tents, trailers, and motorhomes. Natural vegetation between sites provides excellent screening and privacy for a peaceful wilderness experience.
Each campsite features a tent pad, accessible wood picnic table, fire ring, and parking spur. Two vault toilets serve the camping loop, and potable drinking water is available at a centrally located pressurized faucet. There are no hookups, showers, or dump stations. Adjacent to the campground, a boat landing provides direct access to Moosehead Lake, a fairly deep mixed cold/warm water lake with a channel connecting to Little Presque Isle Lake in Wisconsin, offering diverse fishing opportunities.
The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservations accepted. The nightly fee is $13. Stays are limited to 14 consecutive days. Each site allows up to 8 people, 2 motorized vehicles, and a maximum of one RV or trailer plus two tents, or three tents. Generators are prohibited during quiet hours from 10pm to 6am.
