About

Aspen Campground is a small, quiet Forest Service campground located directly off Highway 89 in the Little Belt Mountains of Montana. The 6 campsites occupy a canyon carved out by Belt Creek, providing a scenic creekside setting at around 5,200 feet elevation in a lodgepole pine forest. The campground offers basic amenities including potable water from a hand pump during warmer months, at least one ADA-accessible vault toilet, and each site equipped with a fire ring or grill and picnic table. The largest site accommodates trailers up to 22 feet. Belt Creek offers excellent trout fishing with mandatory catch-and-release rules for cutthroat trout. The Belt Creek Ranger Station sits just north of the campground, with trails to the east connecting to an extensive trail system for hiking. A food storage order is in effect to prevent bear conflicts. Motorized OHVs must remain on the campground road, and horses are not permitted.
