About
Perched atop Mingus Mountain in the cool pines of Prescott National Forest, this campground provides a scenic retreat at 7,300 feet elevation with spectacular panoramic views of the Verde Valley, the red rocks of Sedona, the San Francisco Peaks near Flagstaff, and the Mogollon Rim. The campground features 19 RV sites originally equipped with electrical hookups and 11 tent sites spread across multiple loops. One tent loop with five sites opens only during overflow periods. Drinking water is available for campground use but not for filling RV tanks, and vault toilets serve the facility. The location offers access to diverse recreation including the Mingus Rim Trail system for hiking and mountain biking, hang gliding and paragliding launch sites, and excellent opportunities for wildlife viewing and photography. The cool mountain climate provides relief from Arizona's summer heat. The campground operates first-come, first-served with no reservations accepted. Access requires traveling approximately 2.5 miles on Forest Road 104 from Highway 89A, with the final half-mile on gravel road.
Directions
Off Highway 89A between Prescott Valley and Jerome, turn onto Forest Road 104 at the Summit Picnic Site. Follow paved road approximately 2 miles, then continue straight on gravel road for 0.5 miles to a 4-way stop. Turn right into the campground.
