About

Mineral Camp is a rustic 3-site campground situated along Sharps Creek in the Umpqua National Forest, surrounded by a mature stand of Douglas fir. This small, quiet campground sits at the base of the historic Hardscrabble Grade and once served as a resting point for miners before they made the long, steep climb to the Bohemia Mining District. The campground is free and operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservations accepted. Facilities are minimal: vault toilets are provided, but there is no potable water. Campers must bring their own water or treat/filter water from nearby Sharps Creek. Campfires are permitted only in developed fire pits. Dogs are allowed but must be kept on leash, and OHV/ATV use is prohibited within the campground. Access is via a gravel road, making this best suited for tents, small trailers, or high-clearance vehicles. The campground sees light use, offering solitude for those seeking a backcountry experience close to the historic Bohemia Mining District area.
