About

Fairview Peak Lookout Tower stands 53 feet tall at 5,933 feet elevation in Umpqua National Forest, offering what many consider the finest panoramic views west of the Cascade crest. On clear days, visitors can see Mount Hood to the north, Crater Lake and Mount McLoughlin to the south, and numerous Cascade peaks to the east. The 15x15-foot one-room cabin is furnished with a futon, table and chairs, propane heater, cook stove, oven, and small refrigerator. No cooking utensils are provided. There is no potable water or electricity on site, so visitors must bring ample water for drinking, cooking, and washing. A vault toilet is available. Access requires navigating a steep, rocky final mile; high-clearance vehicles are strongly recommended. The lookout accommodates up to four guests and may serve as an active fire lookout during summer months. Quiet hours are 10 p.m. to 6 p.m., and campfires are permitted in the developed fire pit when conditions allow.
