About

Medeiros Campground offers primitive camping along the southern shoreline of O'Neill Forebay within San Luis Reservoir State Recreation Area. Located in the grassy hills of the western San Joaquin Valley, this first-come, first-served campground provides a no-frills camping experience with basic amenities including a limited number of fire rings, shade ramadas, and picnic tables. Drinking water is available at three locations throughout the campground, and chemical toilets serve campers. The campground is situated just a few miles from the Medeiros boat ramp, making it convenient for anglers and boaters exploring the reservoir. The area is noted for windsurfing, fishing, and boating opportunities on O'Neill Forebay, though all boats must be removed from the water by sunset. The campground sits in an open, wind-prone area, and campers should watch for wind warning lights located at the Medeiros boat ramp. Summer temperatures average in the mid-90s and can exceed 100 degrees, though evenings are typically cool. The campground is open year-round and provides an accessible option for travelers along Highway 152 seeking overnight camping near the reservoir.
