About
Manzanita Point Hike-in Group Campground is located at the southeast end of Pine Ridge in Henry W. Coe State Park, offering eleven primitive group campsites designed for backpacking groups of 9 or more people. The sites are situated 2-3 miles from the Coe Ranch Entrance and can be reached by hiking or mountain biking. Giant manzanitas, ponderosa pines, and oaks shade this pleasant knoll, providing a more accessible backcountry experience without requiring an arduous trek. Each group camp is primitive in nature, equipped with picnic tables, a metal campfire ring (when fires are allowed), and access to vault toilets. There is no potable water at Manzanita Point, so groups must pack in sufficient water and supplies for their entire stay. Wood gathering is prohibited; campers must bring their own firewood, which can also be purchased at the Visitor Center. Wood and charcoal campfires are only permitted seasonally and may be banned during wildfire season or dangerous conditions. Limited vehicle access distinguishes Manzanita Point from other backcountry sites. Groups of 9 or more can drive up to 2 equipment vehicles via a gated, one-lane dirt road to transport gear. Vehicles must remain parked at camp for the duration of the stay, and shuttling is not permitted. Vehicle access requires arrival during business hours and at least 1 hour before sunset, and may be prohibited during or after significant rainfall. Non-passengers must walk or bike to the sites. Reservations must be made at least 7 days in advance through ReserveCalifornia.
