About

McWilliams Campground sits at 8,550 feet in the Spring Mountains National Recreation Area, providing a cool mountain retreat just 50 miles from Las Vegas. The campground features over 75 single and double-family sites scattered among Ponderosa and white pines, offering partial shade and views of the surrounding peaks. Sites include picnic tables, grills, and campfire rings with paved roads and parking spurs throughout. The campground operates a split system: odd-numbered sites require advance reservations through Recreation.gov, while even-numbered sites remain first-come, first-served. The full campground typically opens May through October depending on weather and snow conditions, though sites 1-14 remain available year-round under permit by Lee Canyon Ski Resort during winter months. Recreation opportunities include the 6.2-mile Bristlecone Trail with trailheads above and below the campground, plus access to over 60 miles of hiking and horseback riding trails throughout the Spring Mountains. The nearby Lee Canyon Ski Area and Spring Mountains Visitor Center in Kyle Canyon offer additional activities and interpretive programs.
