Mahogany Grove Campground sits in the Spring Mountains National Recreation Area, a forested desert oasis approximately 40 miles northwest of Las Vegas. The campground offers six group tent camping sites: McNutt, FDR, Smith, Young, Scrugham, and CCC. Each site includes picnic and serving tables, grills, campfire circles, and tent pads. Vault toilets are provided, but potable water is not available, so campers must bring all water needed for drinking, washing, and dousing fires. The campground is situated among stands of juniper and mountain mahogany, providing privacy from the highway while offering sweeping views of the Spring Mountains. This area is home to the ancient Bristlecone pine and the rare Mount Charleston blue butterfly. The North Loop-Mt. Charleston National Recreation Trail begins less than a mile away, and more than 60 miles of hiking and horseback riding trails crisscross the recreation area. This is a tent-only campground with lot-style parking, meaning short walks to carry equipment to campsites. RVs and trailers are not accommodated, though tent trailers and cab-over campers are permitted and may require two parking spaces. Dogs must remain on leash, and stock animals are prohibited.

Directions

From Las Vegas, take US-95 north to the junction with NV-157/Kyle Canyon. Turn left and travel approximately 18 miles to NV-158/Deer Creek. Turn right and travel approximately 6 miles to the campground.
