About

Mahogany Grove Group Campground is set in the beautiful Spring Mountains National Recreation Area, a forested desert oasis just 40 miles from downtown Las Vegas. This reservation-only facility features 6 group sites for tent camping, including the McNutt Group Site, all positioned to provide sweeping views of the Spring Mountains. The campground sits near the remnants of one of the original Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) developed campgrounds from the 1930s, and a short interpretive trail tells the story of camping in the Spring Mountains. The campground is surrounded by stands of juniper and mountain mahogany that provide privacy from Highway 158 while offering limited shade. The Spring Mountains are a beautiful island in the desert, home to more than 100 springs that create an ideal escape from the heat of the city. The area supports diverse flora and fauna, including the ancient Bristlecone pine and the rare Mount Charleston blue butterfly. The North Loop-Mt. Charleston National Recreation Trail begins less than a mile from the campground, and Robber's Roost Trailhead is nearby. More than 60 miles of hiking and horseback riding trails crisscross the Spring Mountains National Recreation Area, with scenic driving, rock climbing, and picnicking also popular. The Spring Mountains Visitor Center is a short drive away, offering guided hikes and educational programs.

Directions

From Las Vegas, Nevada, take Highway 95 north to the junction with Highway 157/Kyle Canyon. Turn left and travel approximately 18 miles to Highway 158/Deer Creek. Turn right and travel approximately 6 miles to the campground.
