About

Kyle Canyon Picnic Area is a day-use facility nestled in the beautiful Spring Mountains National Recreation Area, just 23 miles from Las Vegas. The area offers 25 first-come, first-served picnic sites along the Kyle Canyon wash, including single and double sites, with four accessible sites available. Each site is equipped with a picnic table, campfire ring, and grill. Set in an open forest of ponderosa pine, mountain mahogany, and Gambel oak, the picnic area provides partial shade with manzanita and wild roses dotting the landscape. A seasonal stream and Highway 157 parallel the area, with most sites offering views of the surrounding towering canyon walls. The location serves as an ideal base for exploring nearby trails, including the 1.6-mile Fletcher Canyon Trail and the 1.5-mile Acastus Trail. The Spring Mountains National Recreation Area is a forested desert oasis home to diverse flora and fauna, including the ancient Bristlecone pine and the rare Mount Charleston blue butterfly. More than 100 springs create this mountain range, making it a popular escape from the desert heat with opportunities for hiking, horseback riding, and scenic driving throughout the area.

Directions

From Las Vegas, travel north on Highway 95 to the junction of Highway 157/Kyle Canyon. Turn left and travel approximately 18 miles. The picnic area is on the left side of the highway.
