About
Kyle Canyon Picnic Area is a day-use facility nestled in the Spring Mountains National Recreation Area within the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, approximately 23 miles from Las Vegas. The area offers 25 first-come, first-served picnic sites spread along Kyle Canyon wash, providing a forested desert escape with ponderosa pine, mountain mahogany, and Gambel oak offering partial shade. Each site is equipped with a picnic table, campfire ring, and grill. Flush toilets and drinking water from shared spigots are available on-site. Roads and parking spurs are paved. Four sites are designated as ADA-accessible. The 1.6-mile Fletcher Canyon Trail begins nearby, and the 1.5-mile Acastus Trail passes through the site. Visitors enjoy hiking, horseback riding, rock climbing, and scenic driving in this mountain refuge where the rare Mount Charleston blue butterfly and ancient Bristlecone pines can be found.
Directions
From Las Vegas, travel north on Highway 95 to the junction of Highway 157/Kyle Canyon. Turn left and travel approximately 18 miles. The picnic area is on the left side of the highway.
