About

Kyle Canyon Picnic Area sits in the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest within the Spring Mountains National Recreation Area, offering a forested desert oasis just 23 miles from the Las Vegas Strip. The facility consists of 25 first-come, first-served sites spread across two loops, set among ponderosa pine, mountain mahogany, and Gambel oak. Most sites offer views of the surrounding canyon walls. The area is primarily a day-use picnic facility, though overnight camping is permitted during the summer season. Each site includes a picnic table, campfire ring, and grill. Flush toilets and drinking water are provided, with water spigots shared between sites. Four sites are ADA accessible. Roads and parking spurs are paved. Nearby recreation options include more than 60 miles of hiking and horseback riding trails, with two trails allowing mountain biking. Rock climbing and scenic driving are also popular. Fletcher View Campground, offering year-round camping with electric hookups, is located nearby for those seeking overnight accommodations outside summer season.

Directions

From Las Vegas, travel north on US-95 to the junction of NV-157 (Kyle Canyon Road). Turn left and travel approximately 18 miles; the picnic area is on the left side of the highway.
