Maud Williamson State Recreation Site
Closed — Day-use only park. Overnight camping is not available. The park formerly offered camping but now operates as a picnic and recreation area only.
About
Maud Williamson State Recreation Site occupies a flat edge of cultivated Willamette Valley farmland along Highway 221 near the Wheatland Ferry. The 24-acre property is covered by a fine stand of second-growth Douglas fir, providing shaded picnic areas amid the surrounding agricultural landscape. The park was donated in 1937 by Maud Williamson and includes a historic farmhouse once occupied by the donor. Originally offering overnight camping, the site has transitioned to day-use only operations. Visitors can enjoy picnic facilities including tables scattered throughout the grounds and a covered picnic shelter available for reservation. Amenities include restrooms, volleyball courts, and horseshoe pits. The park provides a quiet stop along the Yamhill Loop scenic route and serves as a peaceful retreat for families seeking outdoor recreation in the mid-Willamette Valley. Admission to the park is free, though there is a fee to reserve the group picnic shelter.
Directions
Maud Williamson State Recreation Site is located on the west side of the Salem-Dayton Highway (OR-221) at the junction with Hopewell Road in Yamhill County, Oregon. The park entrance is across from Wheatland Road, which leads to the Wheatland Ferry.
