Alder Glen Recreation Site
Open for the 2026 camping season. Reservations available via Recreation.gov; unreserved sites can be paid for on arrival using the Recreation.gov mobile app (download before arriving as there is no cell reception). Potable water is available but may be turned off during low-sunlight months. The campground typically remains open through the weekend following General Western Oregon Coast 2nd Season for elk.

Alder Glen Recreation Site is a quiet, primitive campground managed by the Bureau of Land Management in Oregon's Coast Range. Situated along the Nestucca River National Back Country Byway and the Nestucca Wild and Scenic River, the campground offers 11 sites tucked into a forested setting approximately 17 miles east of Beaver, Oregon. The campground features vault toilets, potable water from a centralized well, and an accessible trail leading to a fishing and viewing platform on the river. Each campsite includes a picnic table, steel fire ring, and paved parking area. The Nestucca River is renowned for its fishing opportunities, particularly for steelhead and salmon. This is a remote, off-grid destination with no cell service or electrical hookups. The nearby Upper Nestucca OHV Area offers ATV trails, though no motorized vehicles are permitted within the campground itself. Quiet hours are enforced from 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM.
Directions
From Beaver, Oregon: Head east on Blaine Rd for approximately 17 miles. At Blaine, take a slight right to continue onto NF-85/Upper Nestucca Rd. The main road transitions from NF-85 to Upper Nestucca River Rd, then to Nestucca River Rd. Alder Glen Recreation Site will be on the right.
