Closed — Closed for the season. Opens May 30, 2025 on a first-come, first-served basis through June 12, then reservable through September 1, 2025. Reservations available via Recreation.gov starting June 13.

About

Marsh Lake Campground is nestled at 9,400 feet elevation on the northern slope of the Uinta Mountains, directly adjacent to its namesake lake. The campground provides a scenic base for exploring this rugged region, with a thin forest of lodgepole pine, ponderosa pine, and aspen providing limited shade among summer wildflowers and grasses. The lake is open to canoeing, kayaking, and small watercraft, with a boat ramp on the west side and fishing docks extending from both sides. Anglers can target rainbow and cutthroat trout. The nearby China Meadows Trailhead gives hikers and horseback riders access to the High Uintas Wilderness, while several OHV, hiking, biking, and horseback trails crisscross the area. Moose and deer are commonly spotted around the lake. The campground features 40 single sites, 6 double sites, and 2 group sites (one for RVs, one tent-only), with picnic tables, fire pits, restrooms, and potable water available during the operating season. Forest Road 072 provides access and is gravel and frequently rough but passable for all vehicles. A 14-day stay limit applies.

Directions

From Mountain View, Wyoming, take Highway 410 south for 7 miles, then County Road 246 for 8.2 miles to Forest Road 072. Take Forest Road 072 for 8.7 miles to campground. Forest Road 072 is gravel and frequently rough but passable for all vehicles.
