China Meadows Campground

China Meadows Campground is a small, primitive campground located at 10,000 feet elevation on the northern slope of the Uinta Mountains. The timbered setting near China Lake provides a peaceful base for exploring the surrounding wilderness. The nearby China Meadows Trailhead offers hikers and horseback riders direct access to the High Uintas, one of Utah's most spectacular alpine destinations. The campground features 9 single sites, each accommodating up to 8 people with a fire ring and picnic table. Facilities are basic: vault toilets are available, but there is no potable water, so campers must bring all water needed for their stay. Trash service is not provided; this is a pack-it-in, pack-it-out facility. The area is bear country, requiring proper food and trash storage. Recreational opportunities include day hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, and fishing in area lakes. Several ATV trails crisscross the region. The campground operates seasonally from late May through mid-September and is accessed via 18+ miles of oil and gravel road from Mountain View, Wyoming.

Directions

From Mountain View, WY, take State Rt. 410 south 6.5 miles to Wasatch National Forest sign. Continue straight at this sign onto an oil and gravel road and go 18.5 miles to the "campground" sign at a "Y" intersection. Bear left at the intersection and go 0.7 miles to China Meadows campground.
