About
China Meadows Campground is a small, timbered campground located at 10,000 feet elevation on the northern slope of the Uinta Mountains, near China Lake. The campground serves as a gateway to the High Uintas Wilderness via the nearby China Meadows Trailhead, making it popular with hikers and horseback riders venturing into the backcountry.
The surrounding area offers diverse recreational opportunities including fishing and canoeing at China Lake, as well as numerous trails for ATV riding, mountain biking, hiking, and horseback riding. The Uinta Mountains provide a rugged, pristine setting with soaring peaks, canyons, and numerous lakes and streams.
Due to its high elevation, the campground is accessible only during the summer and early fall months. The remote location, reached via an oil and gravel road from Mountain View, Wyoming, offers a quieter alternative to more heavily visited areas of the Uintas.
Directions
From Mountain View, WY, take State Route 410 south 6.5 miles to Wasatch National Forest sign. Continue straight at this sign onto an oil and gravel road and go 18.5 miles to the campground sign at a Y intersection. Bear left at the intersection and go 0.7 miles to China Meadows Campground.
