East Fork Blacks Fork Campground
Closed
— Closed for the season due to Mirror Lake Highway winter closure. The highway typically reopens in late May or early June depending on snowpack. When open, the campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservations.
About
East Fork Blacks Fork Campground is a small, remote trailhead campground situated in a timbered setting along East Fork Blacks Fork in the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest. With only 8 first-come, first-served sites, this primitive campground serves as a gateway to the High Uintas Wilderness and attracts anglers, hikers, and horse packers seeking backcountry adventure.
The campground's location provides direct access to wilderness trails, and the nearby stream offers fishing opportunities. Most trails in this area enter the High Uintas Wilderness, where mountain biking is prohibited and wilderness regulations apply. The remote setting requires visitors to be self-sufficient, as no potable water is available on-site.
Access to the campground involves a scenic but lengthy drive from Highway 150, traveling about 16 miles along North Slope Road over Elizabeth Pass, then turning toward Lyman Lake Campground Road and following signs to the trailhead. The high elevation and mountain location mean seasonal road closures typically limit vehicle access from late fall through late spring.
Directions
From Highway 150, 2 miles north of the Bear River Ranger Station, turn east onto North Slope Road. Travel about 16 miles over Elizabeth Pass to the junction with Lyman Lake Campground Road. Turn left, then right at the next junction following signs to East Fork Blacks Fork. Drive 2 miles to the trailhead.
