About
Deadhorse Trailhead Campground is a compact 4-site campground located at 8,490 feet elevation on the northern slope of the Uinta Mountains in Wyoming. The campground is strategically positioned adjacent to the Deadhorse Trailhead, providing direct access to an extensive OHV trail system popular with ATV riders. Each of the four single-family sites includes a picnic table and fire ring.
The campground sits within a thin forest of lodgepole pine, ponderosa pine, and aspen, offering minimal shade but a scenic mountain setting. Summer wildflowers and grasses dot the landscape, and the area is home to diverse wildlife including moose and deer. While primarily used by OHV enthusiasts, the trails are also open to hikers, mountain bikers, and horseback riders.
Due to its high elevation and mountain location, the campground operates seasonally, typically from Memorial Day through Labor Day, weather permitting. Campers should note that there is no drinking water available on-site and must bring all necessary water for their stay. The campground requires a 2-night minimum on weekends and a 3-night minimum on holiday weekends. Gates are open 7am to 10pm daily during the operating season.
