About

Fish Creek Campground is the second largest campground in Glacier National Park, located on the western side of the park at approximately 3,500 feet elevation. The campground is heavily forested, providing ample shade and privacy for both tent and RV campers. Some sites offer filtered views of Lake McDonald, though none are directly on the shore. The area receives the most rainfall in the park, and weather can vary significantly with summer temperatures ranging from 90°F during the day to the 40s at night. The campground features 178 sites, all requiring advance reservations through Recreation.gov on a 6-month rolling window. Sites accommodate tents and RVs up to 35 feet, with 18 sites specifically designed for larger rigs. Amenities include flush toilets, complimentary hot showers for registered campers, potable water, a dump station, and bear-proof food storage lockers. Each site has a fire ring and picnic table. ADA-accessible sites are available in Loops A and D. Explorers can attend nightly ranger programs at the campground amphitheater. Nearby trails include Rocky Point Trail, which passes through a burn area from a 2003 wildfire. Grizzly and black bears frequent the area, requiring proper food storage at all times. Pets are permitted but must be leashed (6 feet max) and are restricted to developed areas.
