About
Lowland Campground and Picnic Area occupies a quiet forested setting in the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest, roughly 20 miles north of Butte via I-15 and Forest Service roads. The 11 sites are designed as back-in trailer spots accommodating rigs up to 22 feet, with tent pads available at most locations. The campground provides potable water from a hand pump, ADA-accessible vault toilets, picnic tables, and garbage containers. The surrounding area offers solid recreation options. Sheepshead Recreation Area and Maney Lake lie nearby for fishing, while the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail provides hiking access. Mountain biking and wildlife viewing are also popular. Firewood can typically be gathered within the campground. Peak season runs from the Friday before Memorial Day through Labor Day at $15 per night. The campground remains accessible during shoulder seasons, though water and garbage service are typically unavailable, and the access road may be muddy or snow-patched. A 16-day stay limit and food storage requirements apply. The campground is first-come, first-served only.
