About
Basin Canyon Campground is a small, undeveloped Forest Service campground located near the Boulder River in the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest. The campground features just two primitive camping units and operates as a first-come, first-served facility with no reservation system. The maximum recommended trailer length is 16 feet, making this best suited for tent campers or small trailers. The campground provides vault toilets but no drinking water, so campers must bring their own water supply. There is no garbage service, requiring visitors to pack out all trash. The area offers interesting geology with Indian Head Rock nearby, and fishing opportunities are available in the Boulder River approximately 3 miles south of the campground. A day-use picnic area is also available. Camping is limited to 16 consecutive days. Access is straightforward from Interstate 15, taking exit 156 to Basin, then following Forest Road 1723 (Basin Creek Road) north for approximately 3 miles. There are no fees for camping at this site.
Directions
From I-15 take exit 156 to Basin. Take Forest Road 1723 (Basin Creek Road) north for approximately 3 miles to the campground.
