Orofino Campground and Picnic Area is a small, rustic campground located in the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest's Pintler Ranger District, approximately 13 miles southeast of Deer Lodge on Forest Road 82. Situated at an elevation of 6,500 feet in the mountains of southwest Montana, this 3-acre facility provides a quiet, basic camping experience for those seeking a more primitive forest setting. The campground features 10 camping units with a maximum recommended trailer length of 22 feet. Each site includes a picnic table and fire pit. Water is available from a hand pump, and vault toilets serve the facility. A picnic pavilion and day-use area are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Campers should be prepared to pack out all trash, as garbage service is not provided. The 16-day camping limit applies to all visitors. This free campground operates without reservations and provides access to fishing opportunities in nearby streams. The remote location and Forest Service road access make it ideal for visitors seeking solitude and a genuine backcountry experience in southwest Montana's national forest lands.
