Orofino Campground and Picnic Area occupies 3 acres in the mountains of southwest Montana within the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest. Situated along a stream approximately 13 miles southeast of Deer Lodge on Forest Road 82, the campground offers a quiet retreat for those seeking a primitive camping experience without fees. The campground features 10 camping units suitable for tents and small trailers up to 22 feet in length. Basic amenities include vault toilets and potable drinking water available from a hand pump. There is no garbage service, so campers must practice pack-it-in, pack-it-out principles. A 16-day maximum stay limit applies. In addition to camping, the site includes a day-use picnic area with a pavilion available on a first-come, first-served basis. The area offers opportunities for stream fishing. The campground is managed by the Pintler Ranger District.
