About

Lower Juan Miller Campground is a small, rustic campground located in the Clifton Ranger District of the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests. Situated at 5,740 feet elevation along the scenic Coronado Trail (US Highway 191), this lightly used campground offers 4 campsites shaded by large Gambel oak and sycamore trees. The campground retains remnants of its past, including what appears to be an old hand-dug cistern well visible north of the camping area. The campground is located 27 miles north of Clifton via US Highway 191 and Forest Road 475, positioned just a quarter mile from Upper Juan Miller Campground. Each site includes a picnic table and grill, with vault toilets and trash service provided. Campers must bring their own water as no potable water is available on-site. The campground is open year-round with no camping fee, though winter weather may make access difficult or impossible. The location provides a quiet, undeveloped camping experience along one of Arizona's most scenic byways, ideal for those seeking solitude and a connection to the area's history.

Directions

From Clifton, travel 27 miles north on US Highway 191, then turn onto Forest Road 475. The campground is located just off FR 475, a quarter mile from Upper Juan Miller Campground.
