About

Delta Campground was a popular developed campground located along the West Cascades National Scenic Byway in Willamette National Forest, known for its access to rafting and drift boat fishing on the McKenzie River. The campground featured 38 standard nonelectric campsites and offered proximity to Cougar Reservoir, Terwilliger Hot Springs, and the Delta Old Growth Nature Trail. The 2020 Holiday Farm Fire caused extensive damage to the campground and surrounding area. Following the fire, the McKenzie River Ranger District determined that the site would not be rebuilt. A NEPA project to formally decommission Delta Campground was approved in December 2022, with infrastructure removal beginning in January 2023. The decommissioning involved dismantling all campground facilities, trails, and approximately one mile of access road. Delta Campground is permanently closed and no longer exists as a camping facility. Visitors looking for camping in this area should explore other campgrounds along the McKenzie River corridor that have reopened following fire recovery efforts.
