About
Ledgemere Day Use Picnic Area is located 1.5 miles up Big Cottonwood Canyon in the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest, offering convenient access from Salt Lake City. Big Cottonwood Creek runs alongside the site, providing stocked trout fishing opportunities favored by local fly-fisherman. The area features 14 picnic sites, all equipped with tables, campfire rings, and grills. The site has paved parking spurs and pathways throughout. Summer wildflowers paint the canyon with vivid color beginning in late July, and autumn leaves create a spectacular display in late September. Numerous hiking and mountain biking trails are nearby, along with rock climbing opportunities. This is a day-use facility only. No overnight camping is permitted. Gates are open 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Dogs and domestic pets are strictly prohibited as Big Cottonwood Canyon is a protected watershed; violations carry a $650 fine.
Directions
Take exit 301 off I-15. Turn east and travel 6 miles on 7200 South to the mouth of Big Cottonwood Canyon. Travel 1.5 miles up Big Cottonwood Canyon to the picnic area.
