About

Redman Campground is located in scenic Big Cottonwood Canyon at an elevation of 8,300 feet, surrounded by a forest of shady spruce and pine trees. The campground features numerous single, double, and triple-family sites, plus two group sites, all equipped with picnic tables and campfire rings. Vivid summer wildflowers are abundant and autumn foliage creates spectacular displays. The campground provides excellent access to Big Cottonwood Creek for fly-fishing, and the popular Donut Falls Trail begins nearby. The area is known for soaring peaks, pristine hidden lakes, and cascading streams, with numerous hiking and mountain biking trails. Rock climbing is popular in the canyon. Solitude Mountain Resort is half a mile up-canyon, offering scenic chairlift rides and an 18-hole disc golf course, while Silver Lake is another mile past Solitude. This campground is located within the Salt Lake City Watershed, where special regulations are strictly enforced. No pets are allowed, and swimming or wading in the water is prohibited. The campground is operated by Utah Recreation Company and requires reservations from late June through early September. Gates open at 7am and close at 10pm. Salt Lake City is conveniently close, making this an accessible mountain escape.

Directions

From I-215, take the 6200 South exit and travel a mile east to Wasatch Blvd. Take Wasatch Blvd a mile south to junction with Big Cottonwood Canyon/Highway 190. Make a left at the junction and travel up Big Cottonwood Canyon for 14 miles to the campground.
