About
Redman Campground is a timbered campground nestled among shady spruce and pine trees in Big Cottonwood Canyon at an elevation of 8,300 feet. Located approximately 14 miles up Highway 190 from the Salt Lake valley, it provides convenient access to mountain recreation while remaining close to urban amenities. The campground features 44 sites spread across two loops, including single family sites, double and triple sites for larger groups, and two group sites accommodating up to 50 people. Every site includes a picnic table and fire ring. The campground has both flush and vault toilets, and potable drinking water is available. Firewood can be purchased from the camp host. The area is popular for hiking and mountain biking on nearby trails, including the well-known Donut Falls Trail. Fly-fishing on Big Cottonwood Creek draws anglers throughout the season. Important restrictions apply: Redman Campground lies within the Salt Lake City Watershed, where special regulations are strictly enforced. Dogs, cats, horses, and other domestic animals are prohibited, with fines up to $650 for violations. Swimming and wading in the creek are not allowed. Reservations through Recreation.gov are required during peak season, with a 7-day stay limit.
