About

Albion Basin Campground sits at 9,500 feet elevation in a glacially-carved basin at the top of Little Cottonwood Canyon, just 15 miles from Sandy, Utah. The campground is nestled among white pines and aspens beneath the dramatic faces of Devils Castle and Sugarloaf Mountain. With 24 reservation sites including single, double, and triple configurations, the campground serves as a base for exploring some of the Wasatch Range's most spectacular alpine terrain. The basin is nationally renowned for its wildflower displays, which typically peak in late July and early August. The annual Wasatch Wildflower Festival celebrates this natural spectacle with guided nature walks. The Cecret Lake Trail begins directly from the campground, while Catherine Pass, Germania Pass, Albion Meadows, and Cardiff Pass trails are all easily accessible. Mountain bikers enjoy the Albion Basin Road and various trails throughout the area. Wildlife is abundant, with moose and deer regularly visiting the basin and mountain goats visible on the precipitous cliffs. A small stream flows through the area. Due to the high elevation and deep snowpack, the campground operates only during summer months. Snowbird Resort is located a few miles down-canyon, offering additional recreation options, dining, and supplies. The last 2.4 miles to the campground are on maintained gravel road.

Directions

From I-215, take the 6200 South exit and travel one mile east to Wasatch Boulevard. Take Wasatch Boulevard 3 miles south to the junction with Little Cottonwood Canyon/Highway 210. Turn left and travel up Little Cottonwood Canyon 10.2 miles to the campground. The last 2.4 miles are on a maintained gravel road.
