About

Albion Basin Campground is a high-elevation retreat nestled at 9,500 feet in the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest near Alta, Utah. Set among shady white pines and aspens, the campground provides access to some of the Wasatch Range's most scenic alpine terrain. The path to Cecret Lake begins directly at the campground, and the Catherine Pass/Sunset Peak Trail is just down the road. Mountain bikers frequent the Albion Basin Road and trails to Germania Pass. The basin is renowned for its vivid summer wildflowers and hosts the Wasatch Wildflower Festival annually in late July or early August. Moose and deer frequent the area, and mountain goats can often be spotted on the precipitous face of Devils Castle to the south. A small stream runs through the basin. Snowbird Resort is a few miles down-canyon, offering restaurants, groceries, scenic tram rides, and summer activities. Due to the high elevation and heavy snowpack, the campground typically does not open until early-to-mid July. All 22 sites have vault toilets, fire rings, and picnic tables. Limited drinking water is available but campers should bring their own supply. Gates are locked from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. nightly. Pets and all domestic animals are strictly prohibited throughout Little Cottonwood Canyon to protect the watershed.
