About
Brown Creek is a designated dispersed camping area within the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests in Apache County, Arizona. As a dispersed site rather than a developed campground, it offers a primitive backcountry camping experience with no amenities or services provided. Campers must be entirely self-sufficient. There is no potable water, no toilets, and no trash service. All waste must be packed out, and human waste should be buried in catholes at least 6 inches deep and 100 feet from any water source. Campfires are permitted using existing fire rings when no fire restrictions are in effect, though campers should check current conditions before arriving. The standard Forest Service dispersed camping rules apply: camping is limited to 14 days within any 30-day period, vehicles must stay on existing roads, and campsites should be within 300 feet of roadways. Groups exceeding 75 people require a free special use permit from the nearest Ranger District.
