About

Winn Campground is situated in thick pine and aspen forest at 8,500 feet elevation near Lee Valley and Big Lake in Arizona's White Mountains. The campground offers 63 individual campsites, including standard sites that accommodate RVs up to 45 feet and tent-only sites, plus two group sites that can each hold up to 50 people. The facility is a popular base camp for exploring the Mt. Baldy Wilderness, with the peak topping out at 11,420 feet as the tallest in the White Mountains. Several campsites border a large meadow where elk are frequently spotted at twilight. The campground sits near the East and West Forks of the Little Colorado River and provides easy access to excellent trout fishing at nearby lakes, including stocked Apache trout at Lee Valley Reservoir. Amenities include fire rings, picnic tables, vault toilets, and garbage collection. Campground hosts are on-site during the operating season. Summer temperatures are pleasant at this elevation, though the rainy season brings frequent afternoon thunderstorms from late June through August. Campers should be prepared for rain and cool to cold nighttime temperatures year-round.

Directions

From Show Low, take Highway 260 southeast for 34.5 miles. Turn right (south) onto Highway 273 and follow it for 10.5 miles. The campground is on the left.
