Winn Campground provides a high-elevation basecamp in the White Mountains of eastern Arizona. Located at 9,320 feet within Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests, the campground offers 63 sites in a thick forest of mixed conifers and aspens. The facility accommodates tents, trailers, and motorhomes up to 45 feet, with two group sites available for gatherings up to 50 people each. Several sites border a large meadow frequented by elk at dusk. The campground's proximity to Mt. Baldy Wilderness makes it popular with hikers, while anglers are drawn to nearby Lee Valley Reservoir and other lakes stocked with Apache trout. The East and West Forks of the Little Colorado River also provide fishing opportunities. Summer temperatures remain pleasant at this elevation, though afternoon thunderstorms are common from late June through August. Night temperatures can drop significantly, so campers should come prepared for cool conditions. Amenities include vault toilets, picnic tables, fire rings with grills, garbage collection, and on-site campground hosts. Firewood is available for purchase. No potable water is available; RVs must arrive with full water tanks. Water can be obtained at Big Lake, approximately 10 miles away.

Directions

From Show Low, Arizona, take Highway 260 southeast for 34.5 miles. Turn right (south) onto Highway 273 and follow it for 10.5 miles. The campground is on the left.
