Lake Taghkanic State Park, nestled in the rolling hills and lush forests of Columbia County, provides a diverse camping experience with tent and trailer sites, rustic cabins, and full-service vacation cottages. The park surrounds Lake Taghkanic and offers extensive recreational opportunities including a swimming beach, boat launches with rowboat, paddleboat, and kayak rentals, and multiple hiking and biking trails. Campers enjoy access to hot showers, flush toilets, and a dump station. The campground features a camp store selling ice, firewood, snacks, and camping supplies. Raised deck platform sites accommodate larger groups, while RVs and trailers up to 20 feet are welcome. Beyond summer activities, the park offers year-round recreation including hunting in designated areas, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, ice skating, and ice fishing when conditions permit. Playgrounds, sports fields, and a rentable pavilion provide additional amenities for families and groups.
