About

North-South Lake Campground occupies a stunning setting in the heart of the Catskill Mountains, surrounding two pristine lakes that were once the site of the famous Catskill Mountain House resort. The 219 campsites are spread across seven loops, all heavily wooded with picnic tables and fire rings. Ten sites are wheelchair accessible. The campground accommodates tents and trailers up to 30 feet but offers no hookups. Two swimming beaches provide lake access, while rowboats, canoes, kayaks, and stand-up paddleboards are available for rent. Motorized boats are prohibited. The area is a hiker's paradise, with trails leading to Kaaterskill Falls, Artist Rock, Sunset Rock, and numerous overlooks that inspired the Hudson River School painters. A fishing platform, volleyball courts, horseshoes, and a playground round out the recreation options. Facilities include flush toilets, hot showers in five buildings throughout the loops, a trailer dump station, recycling center, firewood sales, and a solar cell phone charging station. Black bears are active in the area, so proper food storage is essential.
