Macedonia Brook State Park in Kent, Connecticut provides a true back-to-basics camping experience for those seeking to disconnect from modern conveniences. The 51 campsites are spread across wooded areas, open meadows, and brook-side locations within the park's 2,300 acres. Sites accommodate tents and RVs up to 35 feet, though all camping here is primitive with no electrical hookups, running water, or showers available. The park's extensive trail network spans more than 10 miles of varied terrain, offering hikers challenging climbs and rewarding views of the Catskill and Taconic mountain ranges. Stream fishing opportunities abound, and the area features historic sites from the region's iron industry era. Note that cell phone service is extremely limited to nonexistent throughout the campground. Reservations are required with no walk-ins permitted. A two-night minimum stay applies, and bookings must be made at least 48 hours in advance through Reserve America. Both pets and alcohol are prohibited within the campground, though leashed pets are allowed on trails and in picnic areas.
