About

Macedonia Brook State Park encompasses 2,300 acres in Kent, Connecticut, offering a rustic camping experience in the Northwest Hills. The campground features 51 sites situated in wooded, meadow, or brook-side locations, providing a peaceful retreat from urban areas. The park's extensive trail system includes over 10 miles of hiking paths, with the blue-blazed Macedonia Ridge Trail crossing Cobble Mountain and several other peaks, delivering some of the most spectacular vistas in Connecticut. The park's terrain showcases the region's geological diversity, with igneous and metamorphic rock formations visible along the trails. Numerous springs and streams feed Macedonia Brook, supporting a healthy fishery. The area holds significant historical importance, once inhabited by the Scatacook Tribe and later developed for agriculture and iron production. Remnants of an iron forge and stamping works remain visible at the southern end of the park. This is a truly rustic camping experience with portable toilets only and no running water or showers. The park enforces an alcohol ban and does not permit pets in the campground. Cell phone service is extremely limited throughout the park. The remote setting and challenging trails make this an ideal destination for experienced campers seeking solitude and rugged outdoor adventure.
