About

James Baird State Park is a 590-acre day-use park located in Pleasant Valley in Dutchess County, New York. The park is best known for its 18-hole championship golf course designed by renowned architect Robert Trent Jones, featuring one of the most challenging par-5 holes in the Hudson Valley. A driving range, pro shop, and JB's Bar and Grill restaurant serve golfers and park visitors. The park offers two large picnic pavilions that can accommodate up to 250 people each, making it popular for group gatherings and events. A wedding pergola is also available for ceremonies. The sports complex includes courts for basketball, tennis, volleyball, and pickleball, along with a softball field and playground. Seven miles of scenic wooded trails wind through the park, ideal for hiking and biking in warmer months and cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in winter. However, this is strictly a day-use facility with no overnight camping available.

Directions

James Baird State Park is located directly on the Taconic State Parkway, one mile north of the Route 55/Poughkeepsie exit.
