Lake Eaton Campground

Lake Eaton Campground is a DEC-operated facility in the heart of the Adirondack Park, situated on the scenic shores of Lake Eaton near Long Lake Village. The campground provides 135 wooded tent and trailer sites connected by a blacktopped roadway popular with bikers and walkers. Modern amenities include flush toilets, hot showers, a trailer dump station, and a recycling center. The lake offers excellent fishing opportunities with stocked lake trout, landlocked salmon, and rainbow trout. Boat rentals are available daily, including canoes, rowboats, kayaks, and standup paddleboards. Power boats are permitted on the lake. An interpretive nature trail runs along the campground's northern boundary, and three designated hiking trails are accessible from a trailhead within the campground. The campground has a wheelchair-accessible picnic area, beach access route, and accessible restroom in the day use area. Firewood must be sourced from within 50 miles or be heat-treated, and cutting standing trees is prohibited. Quiet hours run from 10 PM to 7 AM, and generators are limited to 5 hours daily during designated periods.

Directions

From the NYS Thruway (I-90), take Exit 27 at Amsterdam and head north on Route 30 through the villages of Speculator, Indian Lake, Blue Mountain Lake, and Long Lake. The campground is 1.5 miles north on Route 30 from Long Lake Village on the left side of the road.
