About

Kooser State Park is a 250-acre retreat in Pennsylvania's Laurel Highlands, perched at 2,600 feet on the eastern foothills of Laurel Mountain. The park was developed by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s, giving it a distinctive architectural character that blends seamlessly with the surrounding forest. A clear trout stream runs the full length of the park, making it a popular destination for anglers. The campground offers 35 sites with a good mix of options: 28 sites with electric hookups, 7 non-electric sites, and 5 full-service sites with water, sewer, and electricity. Most sites accommodate pull-through access, with the longest sites handling rigs up to 45 feet. Modern amenities include flush toilets, a shower house with hot water and laundry facilities, and an RV dump station. The campground is pet-friendly throughout. Beyond camping, the park offers picnicking, hiking, cross-country skiing in winter, and hunting in designated areas. The location provides easy access to other Laurel Highlands attractions, with Pittsburgh and Johnstown each about an hour away.
