About

Jordan Junction Hiker-Biker Campsite is a primitive camping area situated at mile 101.2 on the historic Chesapeake and Ohio Canal towpath near Williamsport, Maryland. Part of a network of hiker-biker campsites spaced approximately every 5-7 miles along the canal, this site serves through-hikers and cyclists traveling the 184.5-mile towpath. The campsite operates as a free, first-come, first-served facility with a one-night maximum stay limit. No reservations are required or accepted. The site accommodates one group of up to eight persons and includes basic amenities: a chemical toilet, picnic table, and grill or fire ring. A hand-pumped water spigot is available, but the water is non-potable and must be filtered, chemically treated, or boiled before use. Water service is shut off from mid-November through mid-April each year. Located in close proximity to the Potomac River, the campsite is subject to flooding after heavy rains. Firewood may be collected from dead material on the ground for use at the campsite only, but cannot be removed from the park or brought in from outside. The site is accessible only by foot or bicycle via the towpath and is not ADA accessible.
