About

Steamboat Rock State Park is a premier camping destination in central Washington, encompassing 5,043 acres along Banks Lake with 50,000 feet of freshwater shoreline. The park is dominated by its namesake Steamboat Rock, a columnar basalt butte with a 600-acre surface area that offers spectacular hiking and panoramic views. The main campground provides 166 full-hookup sites with water, electricity, and sewer connections, plus 26 standard sites, all equipped with picnic tables and fire pits. Additional primitive camping is available at Jones Bay and Northrup Canyon, which also features an equestrian campground. Campers enjoy access to seven watercraft launches, extensive docking facilities, and a variety of water activities on Banks Lake. The park features well-maintained restrooms with showers, a dump station, and accessible facilities throughout. Hiking trails range from the summit trail up Steamboat Rock to the scenic Northrup Canyon trail. During summer months, Lake Craves concession stand offers food, beverages, firewood, and camping supplies. The park's location near Grand Coulee Dam provides additional recreation opportunities, including dam tours and evening laser light shows at Crown Point.
