About
Spring Canyon Group Site is perfect for large families and groups of boaters or fishermen seeking a lakefront camping experience. Located within the Spring Canyon Campground on the shoreline of Lake Roosevelt, this facility offers two group sites that can each accommodate up to 25 people. One site is located directly on the waterfront, while the other sits within a short walk of the lake with beautiful water views. The 130-mile long Lake Roosevelt is a feature of the Columbia River created by the Grand Coulee Dam. The area provides ample opportunity for boating, fishing, and water sports, with a boat ramp and docks within the facility providing easy access to the water. Families can cool off in the day-use swimming area located approximately 300 yards downhill from the campground, which also features a playground. The lake area has abundant wildlife and birds, including eagles and osprey, with dozens of fish species inhabiting the water. The campground sits in an open desert landscape, meaning little shade and extremely hot temperatures in the summer, with highs averaging in the 90s and over 100 degrees. The group sites are reservable from March through November. The famous Grand Coulee Dam is only three miles away, offering a nightly laser light show from Memorial Day weekend through September 30. For those looking to take a break from the lake, the Bunchgrass Prairie Nature Trail offers a short walk through the sagebrush.
Directions
Take Highway 2 west of Spokane for 65 miles to the town of Wilbur, Washington. Turn north on Highway 174. Travel 19 miles and turn right at the sign for Spring Canyon Campground. The group sites are located at the base of the campground.
