About
Joes Valley Pavilion Group Site A is a group campground located at an elevation of 7,000 feet on the western shore of Joes Valley Reservoir in the Manti-La Sal National Forest. The site sits in an open sagebrush meadow with cottonwoods lining the lakeshore and aspens and pines dotting the surrounding hillsides. The campground features a large pavilion that provides shade over picnic tables, while the rest of the area offers no natural shade. A spacious gravel parking area accommodates vehicles, RVs, and tents for groups of up to 100 people. Joes Valley Reservoir is a popular destination for fishing, offering cutthroat trout, rainbow trout, tiger muskie, and trophy splake. The nearby boat ramp provides access for boating, water skiing, and canoeing. The area is well-known for outdoor recreation beyond the reservoir, with renowned bouldering opportunities in nearby Straight and Cottonwood Canyons, and mountain fisheries at Grassy Lake, Pete's Hole, and Potters Ponds within 10 miles. The expansive Arapeen OHV Trail System, accessible just west of the reservoir via the Reeder Trailhead, provides over 350 miles of well-maintained trails suitable for all skill levels. Joes Valley Resort is nearby, offering a restaurant, general store, and rentals for boats, personal watercraft, off-road vehicles, and bikes. The campground is reservable through Recreation.gov and operates seasonally through early October.
