About
Island Campground is a compact seven-site campground nestled along the scenic North Umpqua Highway (OR-138) in the Umpqua National Forest. The sites are shaded and positioned to catch the sounds of the nearby North Umpqua River, making it a peaceful spot for tent camping or small trailers up to 24 feet. This is a primitive campground with basic amenities: each site has a picnic table and a Forest Service fire ring, and there is a vault toilet on-site. There is no potable water, no hookups, no showers, and no garbage service. Campers must bring their own drinking water and pack out all trash. The campground operates year-round on a first-come, first-served basis using the Scan and Pay system. The area offers excellent access to hiking and mountain biking trails, fishing, and water activities on the North Umpqua River. Quiet hours are enforced from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., and the maximum length of stay is 14 days. Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a leash no longer than six feet during the day and confined at night.
Directions
From Roseburg, OR, turn onto OR-138 East / Northeast Diamond Lake Boulevard. Continue on OR-138 approximately 40 miles. Island Campground is on the right side of the road, shortly after the turnoff for Steamboat Creek Ball Field.
