Closed — Closed for winter. Typically opens in mid to late May and operates through September. Reservations available through Recreation.gov during the operating season.
Alcohol Prohibitions
This Order describes acts that are prohibited upon lands, roads and trails within the National Forest System administered by the Forest Service Pacific Northwest Region in regards to alcoholic beverages.
Aquatic Invasive Species
This Order prohibits 1) possessing, storing, or transporting any aquatic invasive animal species AND 2) prohibits possessing, storing, or transporting any aquatic or riparian invasive plant species - on National Forest System lands in the Pacific Northwest Region as specified in the Order.
Restrictions on Use of Forage and Mulch Products
This Order prohibits unloading, storing, or using any straw, hay, grain, seed, or other forage or mulch products that are not state-certified weed free on the National Forest System lands, roads or trails in any Closure Area as specific in the Order.
Umpqua National Forest Ranger Stations Holiday Closures
All Umpqua National Forest Offices will be closed on December 24 and December 25, 2025 and January 1, 2026.Umpqua National Forest Headquarters in Roseburg will be closed December 25 and December 26, 2025.
Forest Road Closures and Delays
Expect DelaysOn the Cottage Grove Ranger District, Herman Creek Bridge repair and work on National Forest Service Road 1700-623 is occurring. One lane will remain open, expect delays. Drive with caution in the area as staff may also be working under the bridge.
Trail Closures or Alerts

About
Bogus Creek Campground is the westernmost Forest Service campground in Umpqua National Forest, situated in a stand of old-growth Douglas fir, cedars, and deciduous trees among many flowering shrubs and native species. Its location along the Wild & Scenic North Umpqua River makes it an ideal basecamp for outdoor recreation. The campground features 14 sites with picnic tables and fire rings on paved roads and spurs. Flush toilets, drinking water, and trash facilities are available, along with a campground host during peak season. The North Umpqua River is within walking distance, and a raft launch is conveniently located across the highway. The campground balances seclusion with easy access to Roseburg, just 35 miles west. The North Umpqua River is renowned for outstanding salmon and steelhead fishing and exhilarating whitewater rafting. The 79-mile North Umpqua Trail can be accessed from nearby Wright Creek or Mott Trailheads, and the Riverview Trail within the campground offers stunning river views. The campground sits along the Rogue-Umpqua National Scenic Byway, providing access to diverse mountain and river landscapes. Wildlife viewing opportunities include sightings of bald eagles that call the North Umpqua River home.
Directions
From Roseburg, travel east on OR-138 East/NE Diamond Lake Boulevard for 35 miles. Bogus Creek Campground is on the left side of the highway opposite the campground entrance sign.
