Deer Flat Group Site
The campground was closed for the entire 2025 season and reopens May 22, 2026. Reservations are handled through Recreation.gov. Check-in is 1:00 PM at the gated site with the campground host; check-out is 11:00 AM. Maximum stay is 14 consecutive nights.
Alcohol Prohibitions
This Order describes acts that are prohibited upon lands, roads and trails within the National Forest System administered by the Forest Service Pacific Northwest Region in regards to alcoholic beverages.
Aquatic Invasive Species
This Order prohibits 1) possessing, storing, or transporting any aquatic invasive animal species AND 2) prohibits possessing, storing, or transporting any aquatic or riparian invasive plant species - on National Forest System lands in the Pacific Northwest Region as specified in the Order.
Restrictions on Use of Forage and Mulch Products

About
Deer Flat Group Site occupies a shaded bench of old-growth Douglas fir, sugar pine, and deciduous trees near the banks of the North Umpqua River, a federally designated Wild and Scenic River renowned for salmon and steelhead fishing as well as challenging whitewater. The single reservable group site can host up to 70 people with parking for 25 vehicles (maximum 35 feet each). Roads and spurs are paved with back-in access. The site is equipped with multiple picnic tables, campfire rings, grills, flush toilets, and potable water. The adjacent Horseshoe Bend Campground provides access to a boat launch, and the 79-mile North Umpqua Trail passes nearby, offering hiking and mountain biking opportunities. The Illahee Flat Trail descends from Horseshoe Bend to connect with the Jessie Wright Segment of the North Umpqua Trail. Crater Lake National Park and the Rogue-Umpqua National Scenic Byway are within easy driving distance for day trips.
Directions
From Roseburg, Oregon, travel east on OR-138 (Diamond Lake Boulevard) for approximately 48 miles. Turn right onto Forest Road 4750 near Milepost 48, then turn right again onto Forest Road 4750-001. The Deer Flat Group Site is to the right at the first road junction inside the campground.
