About

Steamboat Falls Campground is a small, quiet campground tucked into the Umpqua National Forest along Steamboat Creek. The campground offers about 9 standard nonelectric sites, each equipped with a picnic table and fire ring. Towering fir trees provide shade and create a sense of seclusion despite proximity to the North Umpqua Highway corridor. A highlight of staying here is watching steelhead trout attempt to leap Steamboat Falls during their spawning runs, typically in summer months. This is a primitive facility with vault toilets but no potable water, so campers must bring their own supply. Trash service is not provided; pack in and pack out. Campfires are permitted in the developed fire pits, subject to any active fire restrictions. Dogs are allowed but must remain on leash. The maximum vehicle length is 20 feet, making this campground unsuitable for large RVs. The trailhead for the 5.5-mile Mott segment of the North Umpqua Trail is about 6 miles southwest of the campground, providing access to excellent hiking. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis year-round with payment via the Recreation.gov Scan & Pay app.
