About

Iris Meadow Campground is a tranquil family campground in Inyo National Forest, located along Rock Creek Road about 5 miles west of Highway 395. At 8,300 feet elevation, this peaceful campground features 14 first-come, first-served campsites arranged around a small meadow and tucked among groves of quaking aspens and willows. The campground is renowned for its serene atmosphere, with several campsites positioned along the rushing sounds of Rock Creek. In late spring, the meadow comes alive with blooming wild irises and other wildflowers, creating a colorful display against the backdrop of aspen trees. The campground provides flush toilets and potable water from a hand pump. Each site includes a picnic table, fire pit, and bear-proof food storage box. The area is active bear habitat, so proper food storage is required at all times. The campground serves as an excellent base for exploring the Rock Creek Canyon area, with access to fishing in Rock Creek and numerous hiking trails in the surrounding Inyo National Forest. The peaceful setting and natural beauty make it a favorite among those seeking a quieter camping experience in the Eastern Sierra.
