About

Holiday Campground is a 35-site overflow campground in the scenic Rock Creek area of Inyo National Forest, positioned between Mammoth Lakes and Bishop along US Highway 395. Located approximately half a mile from Tom's Place on Rock Creek Road, this campground operates as an overflow facility, opening as needed during peak seasons to accommodate visitors. The campground sits in active bear country, and all sites are equipped with bear boxes that must be used for food storage. Basic amenities include drinking water available from a hand pump, vault toilets, picnic tables, and fire rings at each site. Trailer spaces are available, though there are no electrical hookups. Snow is not removed from the campground during winter months. Holiday Campground provides access to numerous hiking destinations in the Eastern Sierra, including trails to Mildred Lake, Lake Dorothy, Lake Genevieve, and the Laurel Lakes Trail. The campground's location makes it a convenient base for exploring the Rock Creek drainage and surrounding high country. When water and trash services are shut down, there is no fee to camp. Quiet hours are enforced from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., and dogs must be leashed at all times.

Directions

From Mammoth Lakes: Drive east on US 395 for approximately 13 miles. Take the Tom's Place exit and follow Rock Creek Road for about half a mile. From Bishop: Travel west on US 395 for about 30 miles. Take the Tom's Place exit and follow Rock Creek Road for about half a mile.
