About
Upper Pine Grove Campground is a small, tranquil campground located along Rock Creek in the Eastern Sierra's Inyo National Forest. Situated at 9,400 feet elevation, the campground features 9 first-come, first-served campsites nestled among tall Jeffrey Pines. Some sites are deliberately flat to provide easier accessibility for campers. Each site includes a picnic table, fire pit, and bear box for food storage. The campground provides vault toilets and potable water via a hand pump. Located approximately 8 miles west of Tom's Place on Rock Creek Road, the area is an active bear habitat, so all food must be secured in the provided bear boxes when not attended or overnight. The maximum stay is 14 consecutive days, and quiet hours are enforced from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Upper Pine Grove is a popular spot for anglers, hikers, and those seeking a peaceful mountain camping experience. Rock Creek Lake Resort is located directly across from the campground. America the Beautiful Access and Senior Passes are honored for 50% discount on camping fees.
Directions
From Bishop, take US Highway 395 north to Tom's Place. From Mammoth Lakes, take Highway 395 south to Tom's Place. Turn west on Rock Creek Road and drive approximately 8 miles to the campground on the left.
