About
Pine Grove Campground sits at 9,300 feet elevation along the Rock Creek corridor, approximately 9 miles southwest of Tom's Place off Highway 395. This small 10-site campground offers a quieter alternative to the more popular Rock Creek Lake Campground located just up the road. The setting provides easy access to excellent fishing at Rock Creek and nearby Rock Creek Lake, as well as trailheads leading into the John Muir Wilderness. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations. Each site includes a picnic table and bear box, which must be used for all food storage as this is an active bear area. Potable water is available from a hand pump, and vault toilets serve the campground. The narrow mountain road and small sites limit vehicle length to 15 feet maximum, making this best suited for tent campers, car campers, and small pop-up trailers. The typical operating season runs from mid-May through early October, depending on snow conditions. A 14-day stay limit applies, and quiet hours are enforced from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Dogs are welcome but must remain leashed at all times.
Directions
From Mammoth Lakes, drive south on Highway 395 approximately 20 miles to Tom's Place. Turn right onto Rock Creek Road and continue southwest approximately 9 miles. The campground entrance is on the left.
