* WHAT...Moderate risk of sneaker waves expected. * WHERE...Beaches of Douglas, Coos and Curry Counties. * WHEN...From late Monday evening through early Tuesday afternoon. * IMPACTS...Sneaker waves can run up significantly farther on beaches than normal, including over rocks and jetties. These waves can suddenly knock people off of their feet and sweep them into the ocean. The waves can also move logs or other objects which could crush or trap anyone caught underneath. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...While sneaker waves can occur at any time, the greatest risk is on an incoming tide. Please be aware of the tides if venturing out onto the beaches. Daphne Grove Campground is located along the South Fork of the Coquille River in the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest, accessible via Forest Road 33 about 15 miles south of Powers. The campground provides a quiet riverside setting among old-growth myrtlewood trees, popular for fishing, swimming, and wildlife viewing. The facility includes 14 campsites suitable for RVs and a group shelter that can accommodate up to 25 people. The area offers numerous recreation opportunities including hiking on trails such as Sucker Creek Trail, Coquille River Falls Trail, Elk Creek Falls Trail, and Big Tree Trail. Mountain biking and road cycling are popular on forest roads, and horseback riding is permitted. The South Fork Coquille River provides opportunities for swimming and fishing in a scenic forested setting. Campground amenities include vault toilets and fire pits at each site. Drinking water is currently unavailable. Garbage service is provided only from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Quiet hours are enforced between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m., and OHV/ATV use is prohibited within the campground. Dogs are welcome but must be kept on leash.
