Huntington State Park is a quiet desert oasis in central Utah that combines mountain scenery with warm-water recreation. The campground sits along the shores of Huntington Reservoir, backed by distinctive cinnamon-colored shale buttes at the mouth of Huntington Canyon. All 25 campsites were upgraded in 2017 with electric and water hookups, making it accommodating for both RVs and tent campers. The park's warm-water reservoir is popular for waterskiing, fishing, and the unique local pastime of crawdad catching. Modern facilities include restrooms with hot showers, covered picnic tables, barbeque grills, and a dump station. The campground area features grass and shade from cottonwood trees. Boat rentals including paddleboards and kayaks are available at the park. Located about 2 miles northeast of the town of Huntington in Emery County, the park sits at the intersection of two distinct landscapes: the mountains of the Wasatch Plateau to the west and the desert terrain of the San Rafael Swell to the east. The park is open year-round and currently operates on a first-come, first-served basis during the winter season, with advance reservations available through Reserve America during the main camping season.

Directions

From Salt Lake City, take I-15 south to US-6 (Exit 261). Follow US-6 southeast to State Road 10 (Exit 241). Travel 19 miles south on State Road 10 to the park.
