About

Big Rock Group Campground sits at 7,600 feet elevation in beautiful Huntington Canyon, along the Huntington Canyon National Scenic Byway on Utah Highway 31. This single-site group facility is designed to accommodate large gatherings of up to 50 people, making it ideal for family reunions, group outings, and organized camping trips. The campground provides a large gravel parking area with ample room for RVs of any size, along with picnic tables, serving tables, benches, a fire ring, and Dutch oven stands. Accessible vault toilets are provided, but campers must bring their own drinking water (potable water is available 1 mile away at Stuart Guard Station) and pack out all garbage as there are no waste disposal services on-site. Huntington Creek flows alongside the campground and is designated as a Blue Ribbon fishery, offering excellent opportunities to catch brown, cutthroat, and rainbow trout. The surrounding area features pine and fir forests, vibrant summer wildflowers, colorful fall foliage, and abundant wildlife including deer, elk, and numerous bird species. While trees line the edges of the campground, the site itself offers limited shade. Recreational opportunities abound in the area. The 4-mile Left Fork of the Huntington National Recreation Trail is nearby and open to hikers and horseback riders. The 10-mile Fish Creek Trail accommodates hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. The Huntington Canyon National Scenic Byway is part of the 86-mile Energy Loop, offering stunning mountain and lake views as it tops 10,000 feet in elevation. The historic Stuart Guard Station Visitor Center is also nearby, providing exhibits of Civilian Conservation Corps projects and 1930s ranger life.
